Jalapa wide brim brown leather

The Jalapa Large is born from a simple idea: to take the silhouette of our icon a little further. Its 12 cm brim transforms the proportion and gives it a more sculptural presence, while the absence of a ribbon returns all the prominence to the natural weave. Each hat is hand-woven by artisans from a small community in the province of Guayas, Ecuador, following knowledge passed down from generation to generation. The small variations in tone and weave are the hallmark of this process and give each Jalapa its own character.

Wide-winged Jalapa

Hat handcrafted with palm straw fibers in Ecuador. The ribbon is leather tanned in our workshop in Ubrique. It is the same leather that we reuse in all our bags. This hat has a wider brim than the jalapa with colored ribbons.

At La Mansa we want you to buy consciously and invest in entirely handcrafted pieces. For this reason, the production of Jalapa hats is 'made to order' . This means that every time you place an order, our artisans get to work preparing your hat, so each Jalapa will be delivered within 2-4 business days from the order being placed.
